Oscar's Book Prize

Oscar’s Book Prize is an annual prize for the best picture book of the year for young children. As of 2021, the Prize awards the winner(s) £10,000. The prize is awarded in memory of Oscar Ashton and runs in partnership with Amazon, supported by the Evening Standard.

The outstanding five books on our 2024 shortlist have now been announced - please do check our News page for more details and read all about each title in the weeks to come.

As ever, we would like to say a huge thank you to all who entered, and to our fantastic judges on both our longlist and shortlist panels for doing such an incredible job (and making the toughest decisions ever!).

Our 2024 winner will be revealed on the evening of Tuesday 7th May.

The prize’s 2023 winner was the moving and tender story The Boy with Flowers in His Hair… by Jarvis - huge congratulations to him, and all of our incredible tenth year shortlistees! Our Enter page contains all Terms and Conditions of Entry, as well as the link to our online entry form during the period that the prize is open for submissions.

Thanks so much for sharing our journey - not to mention so many outstanding picture books - with us. We start our second decade feeling hugely excited about what authors, illustrators, stories and reading experiences the next ten years might bring!
